Denise Ann Palazeke, 48, of Wadena, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 26, 2009 at her home. She was born on June 20, 1961, in Schenectady, N.Y., to Douglas and Nancy (VanEppes) Palazeke. She married Kenneth Floyd Lessley II on July 6, 1989 in Las Vegas, Nev. She had resided in Wadena for the past seven years and was employed by Rising Phoenix. In her free time she found joy in writing, drawing and watching movies. She especially enjoyed playing with her children and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 1, in the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Wadena, with the Rev.
Jennifer "Jen" Leigh Mindermann, 37, of New York Mills, passed away peacefully Aug. 22, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at her sister's home in New York Mills. She was born June 18, 1972, in Minneapolis, along with her twin sister, Jean, to Terry and Lynn (Ruona) Anderson. She and Jean were baptized together on Dec. 1, 1974, and confirmed on June 7, 1987, at the Congregational Church in Detroit Lakes. She grew up in Detroit Lakes and graduated in 1990 from DLHS. She just acquired her degree as a health information specialist and was employed at St.
Paul David Cullifer Jr., 41, of Wadena, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 28, 2009, near Royalton. He was born Sept. 16, 1967, to Paul and Sandy Cullifer in Wadena. He lived his entire life in Wadena and was employed as a truck driver. His interests revolved around trucks and he especially enjoyed spending time with his children. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 2, in the Johnson Memorial Home Chapel in Wadena with the Rev. Shirley Nelson officiating.
Theodore Julius Waskosky, 93, of Elbow Lake, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at the Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls. He was born to Theodore Ferdinand and Lulu Beatrice (Eggelston) Waskosky in Faribault, Minn., on July 7, 1916. He attended school in Henning until the age of 13. He then went to work as a well driller with his father. He had a time of employment at the Postal Service in Vining. He retired as a well driller in the village of Erdahl, Minn. He married Helen Christine Anderson on Aug. 25, 1941, in Brownton, Minn. They were married for 65 years before Helen passed away on Jan.
Roger Allen Parsons, 70, of rural New York Mills, passed away peacefully Aug. 18, 2009, at his home. He was born Jan. 18, 1939, in Reedsburg, Wis. He grew up in Chicago, and was cared for by Donald and LaNore (Vanderlinde) Taylor. He attended Chicago Vocational School and served in the Navy from Jan. 31, 1956, to Sept. 19, 1957. Returning to Chicago, he was employed with Chromium Mining and Smelting. On July 23, 1960, he married Mary Ann Obarski at St. Bronislava Church in Chicago. Their marriage was blessed with 16 children.
Beverly Ann (Kraft) Gritz, 56, of Maplewood, Minn., passed away Aug. 15, 2009, at her home. She was born Aug. 28, 1952, in Cokato, Minn, to Harriet (Nelson) Kraft and Elmer Kraft. She attended parochial school at St. James Lutheran Church and graduated with the class of 1970 from Howard Lake High School. She attended business college in St. Cloud. On Sept. 1, 1973, she married Francis J. Gritz Jr. at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, Minn. Together they made their home in Maplewood, Minn., in 1974. She was employed as a house cleaner for many years.
Jennifer "Jen" (Anderson) Mindermann, 37, of New York Mills, passed away Aug. 22, 2009, at her home surrounded by her loving family, friends and hospice care after recently being diagnosed with a rapidly spreading terminal lung cancer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills. A gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to the service at church in Detroit Lakes.
Elsworth Vertice Jasmer, 85, who resided at Lakewood Pines in Staples, passed away at his home Aug. 21, 2009. He was born Dec. 22, 1923, in Bartlett Township, rural Aldrich, to Adolph and Emma (Ellis) Jasmer. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Verndale. His faith had a very strong influence on his life. Later he served as an elder at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hewitt. He attended schools in Bartlett Township and the Staples Area Vocational Technical Institute.
Lilliana Kathryn Filipi, 15 months, of Bemidji, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo. She was born May 15, 2008, in Bemidji, the daughter of Benjamin and Tracy (Wendt) Filipi. She loved to read, flipping through her books talking like she was reading to Mom and Dad. She liked to bop and dance to music, she was just learning to sing along. She loved to take wagon rides, and ride the swings at the park. She was always talking, just like her dad. She loved her dog Jack. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 25, at the St.
Gladys Clara (Frank) Foss, 91, of Henning, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at the Golden Living Center in Henning with her family at her side. She was born in Stowe Prairie Township, Hewitt, on July 29, 1918, the daughter of John and Lillie (Beneke) Frank. As a young woman she worked for C&P Telephone/Bell Telephone and continued to work in several locations until her retirement in 1979.
