City gives enthusiastic approval to plan for baseball program It wasn't a very hard sell: Kyle Dykhoff went to the city council with a plan to use a seldom-played softball field and turn it into a regulation Little League baseball field, allowing him to start a Little League program in Wadena for 11- to 12-year-olds. Oh, and he didn't want any money. "I think it's super great, " Councilman Toby Pierce said. "Especially if you don't want any money."

The Blue Devils were overcome by the Park Rapids Panthers in Wadena Jan. 7. Both teams were scoreless after the first period of play. The Panthers drew first blood early 3:43 into the second period. They extended the lead with a late goal with just 57 seconds left of play. The Blue Devils scored their lone goal 20 seconds into the third period when Abby Ecker found the back of the net with an assist by Kaytlyn Barthel. But the Panthers defense held off the Blue Devils while putting up two more points for a final score of 4-1.

I went to see "Saving Mr. Banks" Sunday afternoon. Mary Poppins is one of my favorite childhood movies, so I had big expectations for this film. The film is based on the true story of how the story of Mary Poppins went from children's books to the big screen. Award-winning Emma Thompson plays PL Travers, the cantankerous author of the children's book series. Tom Hanks masterfully plays Walt Disney, who has been hounding Travers for twenty years to sell the film rights to him.
My family really enjoys gathering together for breakfast. With my parents, sister's family and my brother, there are 14 mouths to feed. One of our favorite meals is a breakfast casserole. I found this recipe to be delicious and more than enough for everyone. Breakfast Casserole • 1 lb. turkey bacon, cooked, drained, and crumbled • 1/4 cup diced onion • 1/4 cup diced green pepper (can use red as well) • 3 cups shredded low-fat cheddar cheese • 8 eggs • 2 cups skim milk
