Humphrey Manor has a new gift and craft shop. The new shop was the brainchild of Diane Rousslang, who oversees the management of Humphrey Manor, and volunteers Linda LaVine-Dupuis and Bev Norton. Rousslang and LaVine-Dupuis were talking about the back room of the shop, which had been previously used as a small, cramped office. What started as a project to add shelving quickly turned into a full remodel of the space, giving the shop a more open, inviting feel.

20 years ago Excerpts from the March 20, 1997 Pioneer Journal • Snowmobile club is in the red The winter of 1996-97 is fading, but problems for the Trailbreakers Snowmobile Club are beginning to surface. 20 years ago Excerpts from the March 13, 1997 Pioneer Journal • JCPenney sale license is extended A "going out of business sale" means just that according to a Wadena City ordinance. Specific limits placed on the length of the sale and what can be sold help insure that other businesses aren't up against unfair competition from liquidators moving in or extended "sales." After reviewing the situation, Wadena City Council members approved a 44 day extension for JCPenney, which announced it was closing earlier this year.
