One man was arrested Monday morning after allegedly breaking into a Clarissa drug store. The Todd County Sheriff’s Office received a call of an intrusion alarm at Clarissa Drug at around 6:09 a.m., according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office. The release also said the Sheriff’s Office received a call from someone who allegedly witnessed a suspect leaving the drug store. The Sheriff’s Office reported the suspect had shattered glass on the establishment’s front door, entered the business and stolen various prescription medications.
As I stepped into the Pioneer Journal office after a lunch break on Wednesday, Jess, our receptionist, immediately pulled me aside. Sporting a look of bewilderment, she asked, “Why are people calling in asking if we’re closing?” The question caught me off guard. Closing? “Heck,” I thought, “I’m the editor and this is news to me!” Of course, that was not the case at all. It didn’t take long for me to realize that some wild and false rumors were spreading around our small town.

This seems to be the time of year when complaints regarding lingering winter weather peak. And understandably so. I, too, am comfortable saying how tired I am of looking out my window and seeing nothing but snow and ice. But rest assured. Spring and summer are on the way.
