GREEN BAY, Wis.—Kirk Cousins came close to delivering a dramatic comeback in the second half Sunday afternoon, Sept. 16, at Lambeau Field, but the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers ended in 29-all tie. Cousins had 425 yards and set up the Vikings for a 35-yard game-winning field goal but rookie Daniel Carlson missed wide right to end the game. That was his second missed field goal in overtime and third on the day.
MINNEAPOLIS—Looking to put the heartbreaking end of last season behind them, the Minnesota Vikings jumped to an early lead and never looked back, moving to 1-0 on the season with a 24-16 win over San Francisco on Sunday, Sept. 9. New quarterback Kirk Cousins looked sharp in his Vikings debut, completing 20 of 36 passes for 244 yards and touchdowns to Stefon Diggs and Kyle Rudolph, while rookie cornerback Mike Hughes responded with three pass defenses and a pick six when asked to fill in for Trae Waynes, who went down with an injury in the third quarter.
