Detroit Lakes' Adam Gotchie (16) maneuvered himself in front of the net Thursday night in an attempt to block a shot by Wadena-Deer Creek's Nolan Killian (19). Flanking Killian was teammate Andrew Sundby (14). Joining Gotchie were teammates Ben Unruh (15), Jack Deconcini (12) and Ben Boomgarden (35). A nine-year victory drought in their regular season series with Mid-State Conference hockey foe Park Rapids came to an end last Thursday when Wadena-Deer Creek posted a 2-1 overtime win at Park Rapids. The victory was a double honor for the Wolverines who took home the Highway 71 trophy for the first time. The Wolverines notched a 5-3 win over Park Rapids at the WDC Hockey Arena earlier this season. The trophy will reside in the WDC locker room for the rest of the season. Submitted photo

Breckenridge/Wahpeton's Jase Jensen (24) took the puck in close during the first period of Wednesday's hockey game as Wadena-Deer Creek goalie Noah Stevens braced himself in front of the net. Also in on the action were WDC's Jackson Becker (2), Jake Dykhoff (12) and Tyler Reese (17) and Breckenridge/Wahpeton's Nolan Wamre. Jensen and Wamre accounted for five goals in a 7-6 tournament win. Adam Gotchie (16) and Jon Richards (22) gave chase Thursday night as Wadena-Deer Creek forward Jarrett Pettit (11) brought the puck up the ice in a Mid-State Conference hockey game at Detroitt Lakes. The Lakers topped the Wolverines 11-2 to push their conference record to 6-0.
