Sandhill cranes are becoming a problem for some area landowners. The cranes pull small corn stalks out of the ground, and in large groups they raise havoc with small grain swathes.

Mallards will be a prime target for hunters, beginning Sept. 22 when the 60-day Minnesota Waterfowl Hunting Season begins. The state is once again giving hunters a daily limit of six ducks. The limit on mallards is four, but no more than two can be hen mallards.

At today's MS TRAM event, Kent Hering of Bemidji jets around Sunnybrook Park on a nifty recumbent tricycle. "I think this bike here is the envy of everyone at the end of the day, " laughs Hering. Wadena welcomes TRAM riders for the seventh time. Shower facilities, shelters, massages, and food were being offered to bikers from all over the state of Minnesota as well as from all over the country.
