A fire that broke out Monday morning at the Eastwood Inn of Wadena forced the evacuation of several residents and spread smoke damage into the adjoining Los Jalapenos Mexican Restaurant. Members of the Wadena and Verndale Fire Departments responded to the fire.

A long-running law firm in Wadena has a new location on U.S. Highway 10.
After occupying a brick house on South Jefferson Street, Kennedy, Carlson and VanBruggen, LLP is now at 116 Ash Ave. NW next to Dairy Queen and in the same building as Quality Auto Body and Glass. The site has been newly remodeled as a ground-level office, and they recently received the community Pride Award from the Chamber of Commerce.
