Verdict: Jury finds St. Marie guilty on all counts

City approves hire of tree planner

The Wadena City Council approved hiring TreeBiz Consulting of St. Paul as a tree planner for the Wadena Area Replant Project.

Anne Oldakowski of Trees For Wadena said money was donated for the temporary urban forester position, and they received seven applications which were reviewed by herself, Molly Costin and former Planning and Zoning director Byron Larson.

"The city received a DNR bonding grant to cover $9,000," she said.

Oldakowski said the application was within the budget, and TreeBiz had experience working after the St. Peter tornado.

Trees For Wadena is an organization to replant trees lost in the June 17 tornado.

In other action, the council approved:

• a MnDOT resolution for Reimbursement Storm Cleanup.

• William Schaefer of Wadena to be appointed to the Planning Commission.

• MIF loan agreement for Northern Lakes Spa.

• Johnson Jet-Line Inc. of Kensington for televising and cleaning sewer lines. Public Works Director Ron Bucholz said they had the lowest bid at $38,175.

• an employee step increase for Troy Wangsness from step 5 to step 6.

• a resolution for an application on PFA financing and the wastewater plant.

"Probably in April or May we'll be advertising for bids on that project," City Administrator Brad Swenson said.
