Raiders hand Cardinals 5-2 setback

Eric Blaha, Dillon Card and Dallas Ehrmantraut combined pitching talents as Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale stopped Staples-Motley 5-2 Tuesday in a non-conference game at Staples.

Blaha went the first four innings and gave up solo runs in the first and second innings. Card and Ehrmantraut combined for three innings of one-hit relief.

Card led the Raiders at the plate with two hits and two runs. Ehrmantraut went 2-for-4 at the plate. John French, Joe VanDenheuvel and Josh Gilb were all credited with RBIs.

Mark Kossan, Devon White, Jordan Wick and Tyler Holub collected one hit apiece for Staples-Motley.

Kossan went all the way on the hill for the Cards, walking two and fanning eight.

Nine players contributed to a 15-hit attack Saturday as the Raiders crushed Nevis.

Preston Riewer, Eric Blaha and Josh Gilb combined to hold the Tigers hitless.

Blaha led the Raiders at the plate by going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Riewer, Dallas Ehrmantraut, Dillon Card and Travis Eckel all had two hits in the win.

The Raiders gained a split with the Huskies May 9 in Verndale by posting a 10-inning victory in Game 1.

Dillon Card went all 10 frames on the hill for the Raiders and fanned nine while walking just two.

Card combined with Dallas Ehrmantraut and Preston Riewer to bang out seven of BHV’s 10 hits.

Jeff Flickinger led the Huskies with two hits in four trips.

Tristan Litke, Jeff Flickinger, Mason Quick and Brian Mason combined to score seven times as the Huskies trounced the Raiders in Game 2.

Eric Blaha went 2-for-3 with two ribbies to lead the Raiders. Preston Riewer was 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs.
