Blue Devils name Hanson MVP

Angela Hanson was named the most valuable player of the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle-Wadena-Deer Creek girls’ hockey team Sunday at the team’s season-ending awards banquet.

Hanson was a goaltender for the Blue Devils during the 2012-2013 season.

Other special honors went to first year forward Natalie Minke (most improved), forward Brooke Umland (Blue Devil Award and Hobey Baker Award), forward Sarah Najjar (Scott King Award) and forward Kylee Helling (Frank J. Selke Award).

Umland and Halley Maas made the All-Mid-State Conference team. Hanson, Katelyn Barthel, Morgan Ziese and Kylee Damm earned honor mention.

Achieving Minnesota State High School League Academic Achievement awards for a 3.0 GPA or higher were Maas, Umland, Barthel, Hanson, Minke, Katelyn Peters, Morriah Cebulla, MacKensie Christianson, Abigail Ecker and Sara McCoy.

The Blue Devils are expecting 22 of their 26 players to return for the 2013-2014 season.
