Christian Berg scored the game-winning goal in the third period Feb. 16 in a Section 6A playoff match with Prairie Centre.

WDC's Shane Motschenbacher tacked up the game's first goal at the 1:47 mark of the opening period with an assist from Dylan Phillips.

The Wolverines began adding to their lead in the second period when Bridger Pettit scored the first of his two goals on a power play at the 10:44 mark. Berg was credited with the first of his two assists.

Goals by Cody Steward and Preston Pung enabled the North Stars to tie the game at 2-all in the second period.

Pettit capped the second period scoring when he took another feed from Berg and put the Wolverines on to 3-2 at the 14:18 mark.

Berg's unassisted goal at the 10:50 mark of the third period opened another two-goal lead for the Wolverines, but it was short-lived as Pung brought the North Stars to within one with a goal at 11:29.

Wesley Janson stopped 28 shots for the Wolverines. Clay Deters kicked out 18 for the North Stars, who outshot the Wolverines 30-22.

The victory was WDC's first playoff win since 2006.
