Wolverines snap 11-game win drought

The Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines managed to shake off an 11-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 67-63 overtime victory over Bertha-Hewitt.

Four WDC players finished the night in double figures as the Wolverines rallied behind a balanced scoring effort. Jared Reinitz was WDC's top gunner with 18 points. Blake Connell pumped in 13 points. Matt Laughlin and Dylan Dumpprope both scored 11. WDC's six scorers combined to go 17 of 23 at the foul line.

Bertha-Hewitt's Michael Grewe led all scorers with 30 points. Grewe was seven of eight at the free-throw stripe. Preston Riewer netted 15 points for the Bears, who were just 11 of 21 at the free-throw stripe.

Bertha-Hewitt held a 34-28 lead over WDC at halftime.

The victory was WDC's first win at home since Nov. 29 when they defeated Sebeka 62-48 in their season opener. Tuesday's win was also the Wolverines' first since Dec. 2
