Wolverines skate past Red Lake Falls 6-3

Mitchell Swanson and Bridger Pettit both scored twice Tuesday night as the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines rallied for a 6-3 road win over Red Lake Falls.

The Wolverines found themselves trailing 1-0 after the first period, but outshot the Eagles 23-14 the rest of the way.

Christian Berg and Mike Paavola also iced goals for the Wolverines. Swanson, Berg and Jake Krause all had two assists.

Wesley Janson kicked out 19 shots in earning the victory.

The Wolverines improved to 12-9.

Chris Holman's club hosts Morris/Benson on Tuesday.

Alex Vagle iced the winning goal Feb. 1 as the Bears tripped the Wolverines in a rematch at Hallock.

Vagle's unassisted goal came at the 6:07 mark of the final period.

The Wolverines grabbed a 2-0 first period lead behind unassisted goals from Bridger Pettit.

Kittson County Central stormed back in the second period with goals from Bill Thorsteinson, Joey Pastir and Kyle Petersburg.

The Wolverines tied the game at 3-all as Pettit set up Christian Berg with a power play goal just 31 seconds into the third period.

Nick Kasprowicz iced a short-handed goal to put KCC up 4-3, but Mitchell Swanson tied the game with a short-handed goal of his own.

Tucker Cosley earned the victory with 23 saves. Wesley Janson kicked out 34 shots in the loss.

Dylan Phillips scored the winning goal in overtime Jan. 31 as the Wolverines topped Mid-State Conference foe Detroit Lakes.

The WDC freshman broke a 4-all tie with an unassisted goal at the 7:59 mark.

Christian Berg iced two goals for the Wolverines while Mike Paavola and Mitchell Swanson both scored once.

Mike Behl collected two assists in the victory. Otto Ashp, Jake Krause and Bridger Pettit were also credited with assists.

Cory McManigle stopped 34 shots for the Wolverines.

Four different skaters scored for the Lakers. Jonathan Hallisey scored the game-tying goal in the third period at the 8:39 mark.
