Wolverines trounce Park Rapids 72-39

Emily Miron and Melissa Moenkedick had double-doubles Jan. 17 as Wadena-Deer Creek thrashed Park Rapids 72-39.

Miron netted 20 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. The 6-2 senior also blocked five shots. Moenkedick canned 14 points and grabbed 11 boards.

Caitlin Volkmann led WDC's season-high scoring effort with 22 points.

"Caitlin Volkmann did a great job at running the floor and finding the open person in transition," WDC Head Coach Keith Ferris said.

Hope Theisen led the Wolverines with six assists and five steals.

The Wolverines racked up a decisive 48-25 lead in the first half and held the Panthers to just 14 points in the second half.

Megan Grimes scored 10 points for the Panthers.

The victory lifted the Wolverines to 10-6 overall and 3-2 in the Mid-State Conference. The Panthers fell to 3-10 overall and 0-6 in the Mid-State.
