Hermann's late goal lifts Lakers over Wolverines

Michael Herrmann broke a 3-3 deadlock at the 16:05 mark of the third period Tuesday night to boost Detroit Lakes past Wadena-Deer Creek 4-3 in a Mid-State contest at Freeman Sports Arena.

Mitchell Swanson iced the first two goals for WDC and Christian Berg tied the game at 3:04 of the final period. Bridger Pettit assisted on all three goals to earn a playmaker.

The loss dropped the Wolverines to 6-6 on the season. The Wolverines are 2-2 in the Mid-State Conference. The Lakers lead the Mid-State with a 4-0 conference mark, but the Detroit Lakes crew is 5-7 overall.

Chris Holman will see his WDC club start a four-game home stand Tuesday by hosting the Fergus Falls Otters.

Mitchell Swanson's record-setting eight-point game boosted the Wolverines past Greenway on Jan. 4 in Coleraine, Minn.

Swanson was a terror for the visiting Wolverines with seven goals and one assist. The performance broke school records for goals and for points scored in a single game.

Bridger Pettit was credited with five assists and one goal. Dylan Phillips did his part with two goals and three assists. Christian Berg chipped in with two assists.
