Freshmen Dylan Phillips and Mike Behl carried a good share of the load Tuesday as Wadena-Deer Creek skated to a 4-2 victory over Northern Lakes.

The shorthanded Wolverines asked goalie Cory McManigle to play an offensive role, and the senior evened the score at 1-1 at the 8:40 mark of the first period. Behl was credited with the assist.

After Gaven Bickford's power play goal at 14:37 of the first period put the Lightning up 2-1, Phillips answered with a second-period power play goal at the 4:16 mark. Behl earned the assist.

Christian Berg bumped WDC's lead to 3-2 with a power play goal at 4:36 in the third period. Mike Paavola and Mitchell Swanson picked up assists on the go-ahead goal.

Phillips put his final goal into an empty net at the 16:08 mark.

Both teams are now 4-4, overall. The Wolverines are 2-1 in the Mid-State, and Northern Lakes is 0-2.
