Rebels check Wolverines 3-2 in season finale

Kinzie Molstre collected 12 kills and Hannah Young added 11 Tuesday as Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton triumphed 3-2 over the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines.

The Rebels handed the Wolverines their first loss on their home court by winning the second, fourth and fifth matches 26-24, 25-23 and 15-8. The Wolverines took the opener and the third game by 25-18 margins.

Emily Miron was strong at the net with 29 kills. Heather Theisen paced WDC with 50 assists and Hope Theisen came up with 28 digs. Melissa Moenkedick was the team leader in blocks with 10. Caitlin Volkmann gave WDC 24 digs, 14 kills and eight blocks.

The Wolverines close out their regular season with a 19-8 record. The Rebels go to 18-4. WDC will enter South Sub-Section 8AA play Thursday.

Wolverines clip Cardinals for third place honors

Emily Miron collected 50 kills and 39 blocks as the Wolverines edged Alexandria 2-1 for third place Saturday in the Runestone Classic at Alexandria.

WDC went 2-1 in pool play and then topped Alexandria 25-18, 25-27, 15-8 in the third place match.

Caitlin Volkmann dished out 47 sets assists to go along with 25 kills, 24 digs, 17 blocks and three ace serves.

Hope Theisen led the Wolverines with 69 digs.

The Wolverines roared back from a 25-9 defeat in Game 1 to overcome the Bemidji Lumberjacks in four games.

Emily Miron and Caitlin Volkmann combined for 34 kills. Volkmann combined with Hope Theisen for 51 digs.

Jess Yost paced the Lumberjacks with 19 kills and 23 digs.
