Craig lands Newcomer of the Year honor at BSU

Former Wadena-Deer Creek standout Rachel Craig was recently honored as one of Bemidji State University's Newcomers of the Year.

The freshman middle hitter started all 28 matches for the Beavers last fall and led the team with a .231 hitting percentage. Craig recorded 175 kills at the net and was credited with 72 assists. She also came up with 56 blocks and was fourth on the team in kills with 175.

Craig also had a big year off the court with a 4.0 grade point average in business administration. She made the President's List, the Dean's List and the BSU Athletics 3.0 Club.

The other BSU Newcomer of the Year was men's basketball junior Dermain Crockrell of Mesa, Ariz.
