Goeden places 12th in Wadena Deer Creek Invitational

Jacob Goeden broke into the 80s on his home course Tuesday as he paced the Wolverines with an 86 in the Wadena-Deer Creek Invitational.

Goeden bettered his score on Saturday at Staples-Motley by nine strokes to capture 12th place in the 48-golfer individual competition.

Nick Forsberg of Staples-Motley claimed medalist honors in the eight-team meet with a 71 as he led his Cardinals to a winning 389 team round.

The Wolverines were eighth with a 506.

Coming in behind Goeden were Mitchell Swanson with a 102, Wesley Janson with a 103, Adam Lund with a 105, Matt Quincer with a 110 and Tony Reurink with a 121.

Goeden shoots 95 in Staples-Motley Invite

Jacob Goeden shot a 95 in Saturday's cold and gray playing conditions to lead the Wolverines to a 14th place finish in the Staples-Motley Invitational.

Hitting or topping the century mark for WDC were Wesley Janson with a 100, Konner Stueve with a 106, Tony Reurink with a 110, Jordan Kern with a 115 and Adam Lund with a 116.

Nick Forsberg's even-par 72 gave the Staples-Motley golfer medalist honors.

The Cardinals were 10 strokes better than Bemidji on their home course shooting a 303 to Bemidji's 313. The Wolverines carded a 411.

Goeden, Janson set pace

Jacob Goeden's 93 and Wesley Janson's 98 buoyed the Wolverines Friday as they shot a 404 in the Blueberry Pines Invitational.

WDC golfers backing up Goeden and Janson were Mitchell Swanson with a 106, Konner Stueve with a 107, Jordan Kern with a 116 and Jacob Salge with a 117.

The Wolverines shot a team round of 411.

Winning the meet with a sensational team round of 296 was the Staples-Motley Cardinals. The Cards were sparked by a head-to-head clash between teammates Michael Strain and Nick Forsberg which ended in a scorecard playoff. Both golfers finished regulation play with two-under-par 70s.

The Perham Yellowjackets were a distant second with a 328 team round.
