Tigers claw Wolverines in Mid-State twinbill

The hard-hitting Pequot Lakes Tigers swept Wadena-Deer Creek 9-8 and 13-3 Tuesday in Mid-State Conference softball play.

Game 1 saw the Tigers push three unearned runs across the plate and grab a 4-0 lead in the first inning. The top half of Pequot's batting order banged out seven of their nine hits.

Michaela Lehmkuhl hit her third home run of the season for WDC. Lehmkuhl went 3-for-4, scored three times and drove in two runs.

Morgan Lugert was 2-for-4 and scored twice in the loss.

Katie White did not allow a walk in winning her pitching duel with WDC's Caitlin Volkmann.

Lindzee Johnson scattered six hits while walking just one as the Tigers completed the sweep with a five-inning win in Game 2.

Volkmann went 2-for-3 with a double.
