Christensen, Blades slash Wolverines 7-3

Eric Christensen collected a hat trick Tuesday in leading the Breckenridge/Wahpeton Blades to a 7-3 victory over the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines.

Dylan Phillips scored his first varsity goal at the 13:11 mark of the opening period to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead.

The Blades scored the next four goals with Christensen tacking up two of them,

Mike Paavola took a feed from Blaine Cooper at the 13:51 to cut Breckenridge/Wahpeton's lead to 4-2.

The Blades scored the scored the next three goals before Cooper capped the scoring with a power play goal at the 11:45 mark of the third period. David Najjar and Shane Motschenbacher earned assists.

Cory McManigle stopped 35 shots in the loss. Mike Withuski earned the win with 21 saves.

Graham Dahl came up with a hat trick as the Cardinals trounced the Wolverines Friday night in Wadena.

Hunter Schneider and Tyler Tollefson combined for two goals and four assists.

The Wolverines put 28 shots on goal against Willmar's 36. Levi Goosman was credited with the shutout victory.
