Ehrmantraut paces Verndale in PRC win

Dallas Ehrmantraut pumped in a game-high 21 points while adding eight assists and six steals Tuesday in leading Verndale to a 64-47 Park Region Conference victory over New York Mills.

Aaron Denny backed Ehrmantraut up with a double-double. The Verndale post scored 17 points and added 12 rebounds. Speedy guard Marcos Gomez contributed 15 points toward the victory.

Big Adam Snelgrove led the Eagles with 17 points while Charlie Peeters canned 15.

The victory left the Pirates with a 2-2 PRC mark and a 3-7 record overall.

Collin Dague's clutch field goal in the final seconds lifted the Hornets to a two-point win over Verndale Jan. 5 on the Henning court.

The two Park Region Conference clubs were tied at 54-all when Henning brought the ball upcourt with 20 seconds left. A defensive miscue allowed Dague run through a sunken zone and score the go-ahead points on a lay-up with just five seconds remaining. The Pirates, who had battled back from a nine-point deficit at halftime, were not able to get a good look at the hoop for their final shot.

Dague finished the night with 28 points while Anders Amundson scored 12.

Dallas Ehrmantraut led the Pirates with 13 tallies while Aaron Denny scored 12 and Aaron Denny finished the night in double figures for Verndale with 13 and 12 points respectively. Christian Siedschlaw came off the bench to score nine points.

The Pirates shot 48 percent from the field but connected on just two of their seven treys. The Hornets came up with eight treys.
