Four Verndale cagers scored in double figures Friday as the Verndale Pirates clubbed Laporte 75-42.
The Pirates came out hot and out-scored the Wildcats 46-26 in the first half. Verndale's defense held the Wildcats to just 16 second half points.
Dallas Ehrmantraut led the Pirates with 23 points and hit on three of three-point attempts. Travis Lollar and Marcos Gomez tied with 11 points. Josh Gilb netted 10.
James Kveton was Verndale's top board man with 14.
Matt Moss paced the Wildcats with 12 points.
The victory gives the Pirates a 1-2 record.
"We are off to a slow start but are looking to turn the corner as the season progresses," Verndale Head Coach Jordan Hinkle said. "We need to work harder on the defensive end and also take care of the ball better."
