The Royalton Royals reeled off their third straight victory Wednesday as they stopped Wadena-Deer Creek 40-14 in the regular season finale for both clubs.

Logan Meyer hit paydirt on fourth quarter runs of one and 65 yards to put WDC's two touchdowns on the board. The WDC senior standout had 232 rushing yards on a staggering 35 carries. He also caught three passes for 48 yards.

The game saw senior Jake Rude suffer a concussion in the first quarter. Jake Krause moved into the backfield and picked up 18 yards on three carries along with throwing some good blocks for Meyer.

"We actually didn't move the ball too bad in the second half," WDC Head Coach Tom VanErp said. The Wolverines finished the game with 263 rushing yards.

The Wolverines ended the season winless in eight games. The No. 8 Wolverines go on the road Tuesday to face top-ranked Pierz in a Section 6AA playoff game. The Pioneers have played in the state playoffs eight times and won the state title in 2004. They will bring a 7-1 record into Tuesday's 7 p.m. playoff game.

"You go north of St. Cloud and they are one of the top teams," VanErp said of the Pioneers.
