WDC slides to easy win

Jake Krause launched a two-run walk-off home run Saturday as the Wadena-Deer Creek Shockers whipped the Bertha Blazers 12-1 in eight innings.

Krause, who was making his first plate appearance for the Shockers, also recorded his first wood bat home run.

The Shockers erased a 1-0 Bertha lead in the fourth when Jamie Nordlund homered to left.

"Nordlund really gave the team some fire with his home run," WDC manager Jayme George said.

The Shockers added two more runs before the fourth inning was over and then tagged on six runs in the fifth and sixth frames.

Nordlund, Seth Hamann, Jordan Wohlwend, Jayme George and Casey Johnson all collected RBIs.

Wohlwend fanned seven Bertha batters in chalking up the mound win.

The Shockers are 6-2 as they prepare to host Hunterville and Frazee Saturday at noon and 4:30 p.m. in Deer Creek.
