Pirates end season with 3-18 mark

The Verndale Pirates were ousted from the Sub-Section 6A softball playoffs Tuesday as Brandon-Evansville rallied to score four runs in the top of the seventh and win 8-5.

The Chargers strung together four hits in the seventh, including a run-scoring triple by Kinsley Randt. Hannah Olson went 4-for-4 and scored three times in the No. 3 position. Chelsey Pizel drove in a pair runs for Brandon-Evansville.

Teresa Moenkedick led the Pirates at the plate by going 2-for-2, scored twice and driving in one run. Moenkedick also reached twice on walks.

Jenny Swenson took the loss for the Pirates but struck out seven and did not allow a walk in throwing a complete game. The Pirates were guilty of six errors.

The Pirates closed out the season with a 3-18 record.

Jenny Swenson fired a one-hitter Thursday as the Pirates blanked the Tigers in their regular season finale.

Swenson gave up two walks while fanning seven in the five-inning game.

Teresa Moenkedick scored three times on two hits. Kirsten Korfe went 2-for-4 and scored twice. Jordy Schluttner went 2-for-3.

Katie Dierkising singled for Nevis.

The Tigers were guilty of six errors on their home field.
