Wolverines sweep doubleheader

Jake Rude and Kenny Sakry earned mound wins Thursday as the Wolverines swept Crosby-Ironton 13-3, 8-1 in a Mid-State Conference doubleheader.

Ryan Redfield went 3-for-3, scored three times and drove in two runs in the opener. Jake Krause, Colter Pettit and Cory Tumberg combined for six hits and five RBIs.

Jake Rude went 3-for-4 in Game 2 and scored twice. Derrick Rude drove in four runs. Sakry and Tumberg combined for four hits.

Sakry went the distance on the hill, fanning four and walking three.

The Rangers managed just 10 hits in the two games.

"We played two great all-around games," WDC head coach Kyle Dykhoff said. "We are confident that we will finish strong so that we are playing our best baseball come playoff time."

The sweep evened the Wolverines' Mid-State record at 6-6 and gave them a 7-8 record overall.
