Wolverines post win over PRB, sweep of C-I

Caitlin Volkmann went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Amanda Perkins notched the pitching win as the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines handed Pine River-Backus a 10-5 loss.

Perkins walked two and fanned seven in her complete game performance. Pine River-Backus hurler Autumn Ackerman issued nine walks while fanning one.

Morgan Demars paced the Tigers at the plate with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Caroline Welsand came up with three hits and one ribbie while Tatum Sheley was 2-for-4.

The victory gave the Wolverines a 9-7 record. The Tigers lost for the third time in 15 games.

Kaitlin Ditsworth, Melissa Moenkedick and Morgan Lugert all collected three hits in Game 1 and Caitlin Volkmann tossed a one-hitter n Game 2 Friday as the Wolverines racked up a doubleheader sweep against Mid-State foe Crosby-Ironton.

Ditsworth and Lugert both scored three runs and Moenkedick had two RBIs while scoring twice.

Amanda Perkins stopped the Rangers on just three hits.

Perkins and Ashley Pauly Perkins both had a pair of hits for the Wolverines in Game 2.
