BHV's bats spark 14-2 win over Frazee Hornets

Nick Jasmer went 2-for-4 and drove in four runs Tuesday as the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders pummeled Frazee 14-2 in six frames.

Austin Selvey doubled and homered for the Raiders and drove in one run.

The Hornets were guilty of seven errors in the game while the Raiders turned in a flawless fielding effort.

"We played errorless ball and only walked three guys," BHV head coach Steve Riewer said. "If we can do that we can compete with the best teams in our section."

Jared Hoemberg started on the mound for the Raiders but only went the first two innings. Dustin Motschenbacher and Ethan Bakken pitched in relief.

BHV 3, Eagle Valley 2 (9 inn.)

Austin Selvey singled in Nick Jasmer in the bottom of the ninth Friday as the Raiders edged the Rebels.

Jasmer reached second on a throwing error and Selvey lined a grounder under the third baseman's club to collect the game-winning RBI.

Cody Yungbauer singled in Selvey in BHV's two-run second and scored himself on an error.

The Raiders kept the Rebels in the game with four errors. The Rebels tied the game at 2-all in the top of the fourth.

Jared Hoemberg started on the hill for the Raiders but gave way to Yungbauer and Ethan Bakken, who gained the mound win.

Logan Riedell surrendered only two hits in a complete game effort.

Sebeka 9-10, BHV 8-8

Jared Hoemberg came up with five hits and drove in six runs but the Raiders still came out on the short end twice against the Trojans.

Hoemberg drove in four runs in the first game with two hits. Mark Fretham had three hits in four trips, Nick Jasmer and Shawn Ollila combined for four hits.

Paul Funk was credited with the win while Dallas Ehrmantraut suffered the loss.

Hoemberg had three doubles in the second game and drove in a pair of runs. Jasmer came up with two hits and two ribbies.

Daryn Kirscht was hung with the loss, Travis Titcomb was credited with the win in relief of Cody Pulju.

The Trojans tied the game in the top of the seventh and broke an 8-8 tie in the top of the eighth to earn the sweep.
