Walter to put on softball clinic, camp
Former Wadena sports standout Jen Walter will conduct a benefit softball clinic and camp Feb. 18-19 in Wadena.
Walter, who is presently head softball coach at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, is a 1981 graduate of Wadena. Walter was a star in softball and basketball during her prep career and went on to play college softball at Golden Valley Lutheran and Augustana (S.D.) College. She was inducted into the Minnesota Fast Pitch Coaches' Association Hall of Fame at a player in 2010.
Walter is entering her 12th season at St. Scholastica where she has had eight winning seasons and is the second-fastest coach to reach the 300-win milestone.
A coaching clinic will be held Feb. 18 from 6-9 p.m. at Memorial Auditorium. The softball camp, which is open to area teams and players, will be held Feb. 19 in the WDC Elementary gym from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. A fee will be charged for both. Proceeds will go directly to the WDC girls' softball program to help replace equipment, uniforms and other lost items. The camp is being co-sponsored by the WDC Letter Winners Club and Greg Larson Sports.
