WDC's Pettit notches hat trick in loss to Red Lake Falls

The Red Lake Falls Eagles used a six-goal second period Saturday to help them defeat Wadena-Deer Creek 10-7.

The two clubs combined for 24 penalties in the game. The Eagles converted on four of their seven power play opportunities while the Wolverines scored on just two of their eight chances.

Bridger Pettit racked up his first hat trick of the season in the loss. Kicking in with solo goals were Mitchell Swanson, Colter Pettit, David Najjar and Logan Meyer. Colter Pettit also had two assists.

Garrett Schmitz had a huge game for Red Lake Falls as he scored four times and assisted on one goal. Dylan Zutz scored two goals to go along with four assists. Robbie Glass picked up one goal and joined Andrew Jahnke in scoring a playmaker.

Sam Coborn recorded a hat trick and a playmaker in the same game as the Panthers dominated their first U.S. Highway 71 battle with the Wolverines.

Cody Brumbaugh kicked out 29 shots and blanked the Wolverines for the first two periods.

Mitchell Swanson scored the first goal of the third period to put WDC on the scoreboard.

Dylan Isola shared net time with Wesley Janson. The two WDC goalies combined for 23 saves.

Tyler Schultz iced a pair of goals as Prairie Centre topped the Wolverines at Long Prairie's Expo Arena Dec. 14.

Prairie Center out-shot WDC 17-3 in the second period and broke a 2-2 tie with a three-goal blitz.

Taylor Bienusa scored just 39 seconds into the game for WDC on a feed from Logan Meyer.

Trenton Wollenburg gave the Wolverines a 2-0 lead with a power play shot at the 9:34 mark. Meyer and Bienusa earned assists.

Prairie Center scored the game's next six goals and out-shot the Wolverines 17-3 in the second period.

Bridger Pettit scored the final goal of the game for WDC at the 14:39 mark.

Justin Brever kicked out 18 shots to gain the victory in goal. Dylan Isola stopped 28 shots for WDC.
