Isola records shutout in first hockey game

The scoring skills of Joey Hanowski, Adam Dougherty and Luke Majerle led Little Falls to a 21-0 victory Tuesday night over Wadena-Deer Creek.

Hanowski finished with four goals and three assists, Dougherty came up with a hat trick and four assists and Majerle scored a hat trick and assisted on one goal.

Mike Anez had two playmakers for the Flyers with three assists in the first period and three more in the third. Hunter Hanowski assisted on three goals and scored once himself.

The Flyers put 60 shots on goal to WDC's 12 and led 13-0 after the first period.

Carl Anderson recorded the shutout for the Flyers. Dylan Isola, Wesley Janson and Cody McManigle all took turns in trying to stop Little Falls. Isola started in the net and recorded a team-high 18 saves.

The Golden Bears peppered the WDC goal with 40 shots Saturday while their own defense played two straight periods of shutout hockey.

Four different players iced goals for the Golden Bears while goalie Steve Aro stopped 28 shots.

Taylor Bienusa broke up Aro's bid for a shutout when he scored at the 9:24 mark of the third period on a feed from Shane Motschenbacher.

Dylan Isola turned away 15 shots as the Wolverines opened their 2010-2011 season Friday night by shutting out the Raiders.

Isola, who is taking over in goal for Tyler Muehler this season, received solid goal support from Taylor Bienusa and Duke Harrison. Bienusa opened the scoring in the first period at 14:25 on feeds from Colter Pettit and Mike Paavola. Bienusa added his second goal at 7:26 of Period 2 with assists from Colter and Bridger Pettit.

Harrison scored the first of his two goals on a power play at the 9:45 mark of the second period with assists from Bridger Pettit and Christian Berg.

Harrison started the third period scoring early as he iced a goal at the 1:45 mark with a feed from Mason Freeman.

Colter Pettit put some icing on the cake when he scored a power play goal at 6:37 of the final period.
