Richter leads Division I in tackles

Former Wadena-Deer Creek football standout Nathan Richter is tearing up the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) as a linebacker for Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan.

Richter, a 2006 graduate of WDC, has 43 tackles in his first three games for the Moundbuilders. The 6-1, 220-pound senior leads NAIA Division I tacklers with an average of 14.3 a game.

Richter was a linebacker and tight end for the Wolverines during his high school career. His defensive coordinator was Tom VanErp, who is presently head coach at Wadena-Deer Creek.
