Shockers' bats explode against Frazee

A 16-hit barrage Saturday was followed by a four-hit effort Sunday as the Wadena-Deer Creek Shockers split their weekend games with Frazee and Midway.

Travis George went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two walks, four runs and four RBIs in a 25-6, seven-inning victory over Frazee.

Jordan Wohlwend also had a good day at the plate going 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs. Jamie Nordlund clubbed a home run for the Shockers and drove in three runs. Seth Hamann made his two hits and three walks count as he drove in three runs and scored three himself. Eric Blom and J.J. Truax both picked up two ribbies. Truax also had two hits.

Every Shocker reached base safely and the team grabbed a 5-0 lead in the top of the first by hitting for the cycle. The Shockers took a 16-6 lead into the seventh when they scored nine times.

Jayme George started on the hill for the Shockers but gave up four first inning runs. Wohlwend came on in relief and fanned nine in gaining the victory.

"Hot bats and clutch at bats proved to be the difference in the game," WDC manager Jayme George said.

The Snurbirds of Midway were a different proposition on Sunday. The Shockers did not score until the sixth against Midway's Brah Lush, who fanned seven in gaining the mound win.

Travis George suffered the pitching loss but gave the Shockers seven innings before giving way to Jayme George.

Nordlund led the Shocekrs at the plate with a single and a double. Nordlund and Jayme George scored for the Shockers.

The Shockers were guilty of five errors.

Zach Etter led the Snurbirds by scoring four times and hitting a solo homer. Drew Rasmussen and Tony Meech both collected a pair of singles and scored a run apiece.
