The future Jamestown College player hit four treys and scored 33 points Tuesday as the Staples-Motley Cardinals downed Tom VanErp's Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines 79-61 in a Mid-State Conference tilt.

The Cardinals, who are fighting Crosby-Ironton for first place in the Mid-State, stopped a three-game winning streak by the Wolverines with another strong offensive effort. Jon Bristow and Derek Wohlhowe combined for 31 points in the victory.

Jordan Reed was high-point man for the Wolverines with 22. Kevin Tumberg and Scott Syverson put up 13 and 10 points respectively.

"We didn't play poorly, we just didn't do a good enough job of slowing down Jordan Riewer," VanErp said. "He took over the game late in the first half and it continued into the second half. He penetrated, passed, shot 3's. We didn't have an answer for him tonight."

Defensively, VanErp credited the Cardinals with being able to hold Ryan Nelson to just three points. Nelson has averaged in double figures since the first of the year. VanErp got scoring from 10 of his players.
