Burczyk, Meidinger lead Verndale into Park Region

Caleb Burczyk and Zack Meidinger are back to anchor the Verndale boys' basketball team as they test the Park Region Conference this winter.

Burczyk is a 6-2 senior forward and Meidinger is a 6-1 junior guard.

"We are looking for these two players to provide leadership for the rest of the team," Verndale head coach Greg Johnson said.

The Pirates have a large junior group behind Burczyk and 5-8 senior Lexis Powers. Meidinger comes from a class that will be supplying 5-7 Jacob Perius, 5-8 Isaac Schmitz, 5-10 Dustin Motschenbacher, 5-9 Matt Willis, 6-2 junior Kyle Booth, 5-7 Jayson Perius and 6-1 Jerdan Stinar.

The Pirates have a 6-3 sophomore in Aaron Denny and a 6-2 sophomore in Travis Lollar. Dallas Ehrmantraut will be playing with the varsity as a 5-8 freshman.

The Pirates won five of their 25 games last year.

State qualifier Sebeka is Johnson's pick to repeat as PRC and Section 5A champs.
