Toedter earns all-conference honor, boys place fifth

Hannah Toedter earned Mid-State All-Conference honors and the Wadena-Deer Creek boys' team placed fifth Wednesday in the Mid-State Championships at Park Rapids.

Toedter was one of 10 girls to earn all-conference honors with her eighth place time of 15:40.59. Fellow senior Mary McGrane placed 18th with a time of 16:21.93.

Neil Janson's 14th place finish of 17:27.99 pace the WDC boys to their 148-point day at Lakeside Golf Course.

Shane Motschenbacher finished 29th for the Wolverines with a time of 18:36.25. Zach Bernu ran a 19:32.17 for 32nd place. Finishing 36th and 37th were Joey Pate, with a 20:04.51, and Forrest McQuiston, with a 20:06.68.

WDC's Brody Wangsness finished ninth in the junior high race.

Leif Johnson ran a 16:18.28 as Detroit Lakes won the boys' meet with 31 points. Lydia and Victoria Lutz of Park Rapids finished 1-2 in the varsity girls' meet with times of 14:43.99 and 14:55.94. The Panthers took top team honors in the girls' meet with 31 points.

WDC boys place 11th

in Perham Classic

Janson placed 33rd in a field of 95 runners last Thursday as the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines placed 11th in the Perham Harrier Classic at Arvig Park.

The WDC standout ran a time of 18:08.57. Motschenbacher turned in a 19:11.55 for 55th place while Bernu posted a 19:38.65 for 65th. WDC's Forrest McQuiston was 92nd and Tony Ross was 94th with times of 21:47.71 and 21:49.44.

The Wolverines scored 294 points in the 13-team meet. Moorhead juniors Lukas Germar, Derrick Nelson and Christian Larson grabbed the top three spots as the Spuds dominated the boys' meet with just 19 points. Gemar's winning mark was a 16:11.97. The host Yellowjackets were a distant second with 53. Sam Stoll was Perham's top finisher with a fourth place time of 16:41.60.

Toedter ran 30th in the field of 78 girls with a time of 16:48.13. McGrane was the only other WDC runner and her 17:36.57 time gave her 44th.

Perham's Maddie McClellan won the meet with a 14:49.74 but the Yellowjackets placed second to Moorhead in the team standings.
