Volleyball team stays perfect

Brittney Noon had a 16-kill night Tuesday as the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines remained unbeaten with a 3-0 sweep of Pelican Rapids.

Kendra Colman's Lady Vikings pushed the undefeated Wolverines in Game 1 before falling 26-24. The Wolverines were in charge in Games 2 and 3 with 25-16 and 25-15 victories.

Courtney Volkmann had a strong game from the serving line connecting on 20 of 21 attempts and scoring six aces.

Mandy Perkins and Kelly DeFoe combined to block 19 shots.

The state-ranked Wolverines head to Sauk Rapids Saturday for a 16-team tournament.

The Wolverines made it three in a row with a sweep of the Cardinals at Staples.

Courtney Volkmann paced the Wolverines with five ace serves, seven kills and 24 assists.

Brittney Noon collected a team-high eight kills to go along with four ace serves and an 16-for-16 serving performance. Hope Theisen was 18-for-18 with four aces.

Rachel Craig and Kelly DeFoe protected the middle with three blocks apiece. Caitlin Volkmann came up with five digs.
