Brittney Noon

Freshman appearing in her first state track and field meet in the 100 and 200 dash events. One of just two freshmen competing in the state dash events. Placed third at section in 200 dash last year. Came out for track as an eighth-grader. Prelim times indicate Noon has a good chance to place in the Top 9 in both events Friday and advance to Saturday's finals. Best Class A 100 prelim time (12.42) belongs to East Grand Forks' Ashley Tingelstad, a former Lake Park-Audubon star. Best Class A 200 prelim time (26.40) belongs to Analisa Huschle of Bagley-Fosston.

Comment: "My goal is just to make it to the finals and do my best."

Brigetta Berg

Qualified in pole vault (10-0) and discus (107-8). Senior making her third straight trip to the Class A state track and field meet. Has competed in track and field since Grade 7. All-around talent who can score points in many track and field events. Placed sixth in pole vault last year at state with a 9-6 vault. Has the eighth-best pole vault going into state. Holds the school record in the pole vault. Shannon Stever of LaCrescent holds the best pole vault prelim mark (11-6). Competing in the discus at state for the first time. Best Class A discus throw Elisa Moenkedick of Perham (133-06).

Comment: Going 10-6 in the pole vault would be "sweet."

Amos Schmidt

Junior who will compete in his first state meet in the 300 hurdles (42.05). Placed third in the 300 hurdles at the section meet last year and missed state by just 2/10ths of a second. Best time in the 300 is a 41.4 posted at the sub-section meet May 21 in Sebeka. Started track as a seventh grader. Has great strength and endurance. Older brother Drew competed in the 300 hurdles at state as a senior and has both coached and encouraged him this season. Schmidt's prelim time is the 14th best in the state field. Travis Jimenez of Paynesville has the best prelim time (40.15).

Comment: "I'm more of a strong runner than a fast runner."
