Wohlwend fans 16 in Shocker shutout

Jordan Wohlwend struck out 16 and the Wadena-Deer Creek Shockers played errorless ball Sunday in a 6-0 victory over the Dent Bulldogs.

"The Shockers dominated from the start," WDC head coach Randy Jahnke said.

Wohlwend joined Seth Hamman and Eric Blom with two hits apiece.

The Shockers stole six bases.

Jahnke's club is now 4-1 heading into a Saturday game with the Dent Wildcats in Deer Creek. The Shockers will travel to Vergas Sunday for a game with the Loons. Both games are set for 1:30 p.m.

The Mudcats cashed in on Shocker errors in the ninth to rally for a victory Saturday in Wadena.

The Shockers gave up four runs in the ninth and then surrendered a pair in the 11th.

Travis George struck out 11 batters before giving way to Jayme George.

Jayme George, Jamie Nordlund and J.J. Truax came up with two hits apiece in the loss.

Collecting two hits each for the Mudcats were Tony Klaers, Dan Nolan and Dan Bauer.

Andrew Hengel earned the victory in relief of Bauer.
