Quincer cards 80 for Wolverines in DL Invite

Thomas Quincer placed eighth with an 80 Thursday as the Wadena-Deer Creek boys' golf team opened their season in the Detroit Lakes Invitational at Lakeview Golf Course.

The Wolverines shot a 355 in the eight-team field. Detroit Lakes took top honors with a team round of 281. Crookston was three strokes off the winning pace with a 284.

Dawson Lupkes also shot in the 80s for the Wolverines coming in six strokes behind Quincer. Cade Woods and Landon Blessing shot rounds of 94 and 95 for WDC. Jaron Englund-Rowan and Ryan Grendahl brought in scores of 101 and 103.

Detroit Lakes' Wyatt Blomseth claimed medalist honors with a 66. Crookston's Ben Trostad was one stroke behind with a 67. Rounding out the Top six were Detroit Lakes Ryan Paskey and Crookston's Dane Anderson with 70s and Barnesville's Charlie Aakre and Staples' Beck Erholtz with 71s.

The Wolverines will compete April 28 in the United North Central Invitational at Blueberry Pines.
