WDC girls end slide with first PRC cage victory

Wadena-Deer Creek center Ellie Miron (20) and Bertha-Hewitt forward Jade Chirstl (21) went after a rebound in the first half of Tuesday's basketball game on the WDC court. Looking on were Bertha-Hewitt's Michaela Powers (25), Taylor Shamp (43) and Allysa Kimber (3).

Three WDC players scored in double figures Tuesday as the Wolverines snapped a seven-game losing streak and won their first Park Region Conference game by downing Bertha-Hewitt 54-32.

Casey Volkmann canned 12 points while Kennedy Gravelle and Rylie Langer chalked up 10 apiece. The Wolverines made 23 of their 54 shots for a 42 percent clip.

The Wolverines beat the Lady Bears on the boards 38-30 with Langer grabbing six. Taylor Shamp collected 14 rebounds.

The Lady Bears shot a cool 25 percent from the field. Allysa Kimber was the high pointer with 14 points. Shamp scored nine points.
