Blue Devils hit rough patch of road

Eighth-ranked Mound-Westonka ran its winning streak to 11 games Friday with a 3-1 victory over Prairie Centre.

After surrendering the game's first goal to Shelby Otte with 7:23 left in the opening period, the White Hawks answered with goals by Liz Schepers, Hunter Gallus and Lauren Burris.

Ellie Burris racked up a playmaker in the win which gave the White Hawks a 15-3-1 season log.

Emma Polusny gained credit for the net victory by stopping 21 of Prairie Centre's 22 shots. Angela Hanson blocked 38 shots in the loss.

The Blue Devils lost for the fourth straight time and fell to 10-10.

On tap next for the Blue Devils is a Saturday afternoon rematch with Luverne at the Expo Arena in Long Prairie.

Mikayla Olson's short-handed goal in the first period was all the scoring Bob Bergman's Blue Devils could manage Thursday in a loss to ninth-ranked Alexandria.

Megan Pesta and Kristin Trosvig each scored a pair of goals for the Cardinals who improved to 12-5-1.

Hannah Hansen had a playmaker for Alexandria.

Angela Hanson kicked out 30 shots for the Blue Devils, who dropped to 10-9. Sarah Finley recorded 16 saves for Alexandria.

Olivia King became the first goalie to shut out the Blue Devils Tuesday as she stopped 13 shots for the Flying Warriors.

Gabbie Smith, Cheyenne Abear and Brooke Mimmack supplied all the scoring for the Flying Warriors, who improved to 11-9.

Angela Hanson stopped 31 of Brainerd/Little Falls' 34 shots.
