Frederick, Silverstreaks stop Wolverines

Jordan Frederick spun a three-hitter May 27 as the state-ranked Osakis Silverstreaks blanked the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines 8-0 in Section 6AA baseball tournament play.

Frederick struck out nine and did not surrender a walk in a complete game performance for Osakis.

Tanner Horn, Michael Behl and Isaac Laughlin collected WDC’s three hits. Drew Fearing, Hunter Scherr and Lane Berberich combined for six hits, six RBIs and four runs in the win.

Behl got the starting nod on the mound for WDC and pitching five innings. Behl gave up six hits and six walks while fanning two. Joseph Wallgren pitched the final inning for the Wolverines, who saw their season end with a 5-13 record.

“It was a tough season record-wise but we competed with every team we played,” WDC Head Coach Kyle Dykhoff said. “WDC baseball is going to be very good in the years to come.”

Laughlin and Wyatt Weber were named to the Mid-State All-Conference team. Rick Price and Jake Dykhoff earned all-conference honorable mention.
