Wolverines have seven harriers returning

Two-time state qualifier Emma Schmitz will be joined by six of her 2012 teammates this season when the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines open their fall campaign. Schmitz is back for her junior year with the Wolverines. She improved her first time at the state meet in dramatic fashion last November by placing 45th in the Class A state meet - an improvement of 37 places and 40 seconds over 2011.

Also back for first-year head coach Mike Brunsberg's girls' team are 11th grader Brianna Rosenthal, freshman Gabi Ross and eighth-grader Tiffany Meeks.

The Wolverines have also added sophomore Briana Malone and seventh-grader Abigail Motschenbacher to the squad.

Senior Adam Leverson will head the WDC boys' squad. Leverson will be joined by sophomore returner Toby Wood and freshman returner Konner Stueve.

Rounding out the team with be sophomore Jimmy Kim and seventh-grader Isaac Hale.

The Wolverines will host their annual WDC Invitational Sept. 3 at Whitetail Run.
