Free License Eligibility card available to Minnesota’s disabled veterans
By David Anderson
Minnesota resident veterans with 100 percent service-connected permanent disability can apply for a free eli-gibility card that allows them to re-ceive a free small game and either-sex deer hunting license each year.
“Disabled veterans will no longer have to bring their paperwork to the license agent every year,” said Steve Michaels, licensing program director for the Minnesota Department of Nat-ural Resources (DNR).
“They’ll need their paperwork to apply but once the card is issued, dis-abled veterans can simply present the eligibility card to receive a license.”
Obtaining the free eligibility card is optional. Veterans may still use their paperwork to obtain the free licenses. DNR has mailed letters and applica-tions to veterans who have previously obtained a free small game or either-sex deer license. Other Minnesota res-ident military veterans with 100 per-cent service-connected permanent dis-ability, as defined by the U.S. Veter-ans Administration, may obtain an application online at www.mndnr.gov/licenses/military or call toll free 1-877-348-0498.
