We cannot continue to destroy our own

Next week marks the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. Since then, millions of unborn children have been killed for the sake of convenience.

It is estimated that 80-90 percent of unborn babies who have Down's syndrome are destroyed through abortion. Clearly, God's command is "Thou shalt not kill."

As scripture states, God knew us and had plans for us before we were born. Certainly, he would not will that vulnerable babies be destroyed.

The abortion situation is discouraging, but in small ways attitudes are changing toward pro-life values.

The "Sanctity of Life" observance is a time to evaluate our priorities in our relationships with others. Each can do our bit to make life better for someone who has a need. We can continue to pray and work actively for a pro-life change in Legislature.

There is hope! We cannot continue to destroy our own.
