James "Jimmy" Willis Chandler, Jr.

James "Jimmy" Willis Chandler, Jr., 49, died on January 5, 2018 alongside his faithful girlfriend of 2 years, Rose Marie Couillard in a tragic house fire. He was born on July 30, 1968 in Decatur, IL to Mary Belle Curtis (Ritner) and James Willis Chandler, Sr. In 1981 his mom sisters and him moved to Yakima, WA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, grilling and just about anything he could find to do outdoors. When he got older he went to Job Corps and received his GED. In 1985 he met Nickie Huggins and they had a son together, Jeremy Chandler. Shortly thereafter they parted ways and Jimmy became a single father. Sometime later he met Shirley Doyle, the mother of his eldest daughter, Mary Ellis. They were separated and Jimmy wasn't able to find Mary until June 2015 and unfortunately they were never able to meet in person. Circumstances led Jimmy and Jeremy to move to Montana for a few years and then to Minnesota with friends that had become more like family. Once settling in Jimmy met and married Lisa Samuelson in 1997. They had two daughters together, Serina and Deanna. They both lived and worked in the Menahga/Sebeka are until they separated in 2002. From then until 2010 he lived between Wadena and Perham. He worked at Willis Rubber and then Barrel O' Fun. Jeremy's friends will remember jimmy as "POPS." He was a wonderful father to his own children and was more than willing to step up and be a father figure to their friends as well. He became a grandfather for the first time in January 2006. There is nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with his beautiful grandbabies. They cherished his "Grandpa Kisses" and would line up for them at every visit. In 2008 he gained a daughter-in-law, Maria (Davidson) Chandler, when he was the Best Man in his son's wedding. In 2010 he moved to Alexandria to seek treatment and to be closer to his daughters. In August of that same year he gave his testimony of salvation through Jesus' death on the cross and was baptized. He'd been living and working in that area ever since. His most recent job was at Alexandria Industries as a machine operator. Jimmy didn't just like anybody. But, if he loved you, you were family; his brother, sister, daughter, son and he treated you as suc. If he was able to he would do or give anything for you, even the shirt off his back or the last dollar in his pocket. The world will definitely be duller without such a wonderful person to bring smiles to so many. Jimmy and Rose met in 2015 through mutual friends in the trailer park in which they both resided. They had been inseparable ever since. They had a love that was undeniable. She was worried he would leave her but he always promised he never would, and he never did, not even in death. We praise God that they will be together forever in paradise, riding on their Harley's, Jimmy always wanted one of his own. He is preceded in death by his parents, his older sister; Vickie Williams, 4 uncles, 1 aunt a few cousins and some close friends. He is survived by a son: Jeremy (Maria) Chandler of Bluffton, MN; 3 daughters: Mary Ellis of Kennewick, WA; Serina and Deanna Chandler both of Alexandria, MN; 7 grand-daughters: Kieza, Franchesca, Etta, Cassidy, Aliza, Haylee and Ariah; his younger sister: Rhonda Chandler of Zillah, WA. And many many more beloved friends and family. A Celebration of Life Service was held on January 17, 2018 at 6th Ave Community Center in Alexandria, MN with Pastor Jake Heppner officiating.
