The Mass of Christian Burial for Phyllis Keppers of Wadena, will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 10 at the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena, with Father Aaron Kuhn as celebrant. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. with Christian Mothers Rosary at 5:00 and Prayers at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Phyllis, age 84, passed away October 27, 2017 at the Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples, MN.
Phyllis Katherine Schmitz was born to William and Mary (Boyer) Schmitz on June 16, 1933, in Verndale, MN. She grew up and attended school in Verndale and went on to work in Minneapolis and later in Rapid City, SD.
On June 2, 1964, Phyllis was united in marriage with Richard Alois Keppers at St. Frederick's Catholic Church in Verndale. As a homemaker Phyllis was busy raising their family of four boys. She enjoyed socializing and visiting while handing out samples with her friend, Sara, at Archies' Super Valu. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, playing solitaire, and spending time with her dog, Missy. She was a member of the Wadena VFW Auxiliary and Christian Mothers.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Richard on November 7, 2012; parents William and Mary; brothers Greg (Bernita), Bill (Amelia) and Fred (Muriel) Schmitz; and sisters Evelyn (Ray) Ament and Delores Ament.
She is survived by her sons Robert "Bob" (Erica) of Wadena, Dennis (Cathy) of Findlay, OH, Craig (Dona) of Anchorage, AK and Glen of Fargo; six grandchildren; brothers Don (Elaine), Marvin (Pat), and Bernard (Agnes) Schmitz; along with brother-in-law Leo Ament.
Serving as pallbearers will be Derek Blazek, Noah Keppers, Austin Keppers, Carlos Keppers, Ben Keppers and Phillip Schmitz.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Wadena, MN.
